The launch date trailer for Friday the 13th game is now live. The game is coming out on May 26th, 2017, for the PC (via Steam), Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game will launch only digitally for now, and you’ll only be able to play it in multiplayer initially. The retail price will be $40 dollars.

Friday the 13th, much like Dead by Daylight, is at its core an asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror. Seven players are camp counselors, trying to outwit the killer and survive. They can do so by either escaping, waiting for the police to arrive, or attempting to kill Jason. Meanwhile, another player controls Jason Vorhees, and their only task, of course, is to murder everyone else. The game happens in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake that all players can explore freely.

The trailer showcases some interesting mechanics. We get to see what camp counselors can do to survive. For example, they can set traps for Jason to temporarily incapacitate him. They can attack him directly, as well. It appears that one of the options is to repair a car by bringing a battery and pour gas (which itself seems to be a quicktime event). Jason also has a few tricks up his sleeve, such as blinking around the map.

We also get to see some options for cosmetic customization of your characters. Of course, all of the clothes are from the eighties, as they should be. You want to look good for your murder, right? As for Jason, players will be able to choose between different iterations from the movies, as well as a brand new costume. It was designed by the famous Tom Savini.
