Final Redfall Update Will Add Offline Mode & More
Poor, poor Arkane Austin. As far as I’ve been able to gather, they didn’t even really want to make Redfall. At least, they never wanted to make a live-service character shooter. That’s not their niche; it never has been. They’ve always excelled at immersive sims, much like Arkane Lyon. But the eternal corporate pursuit of the phantasm of eternal growth has done what it always does, and as we all know, this has spelled the doom of Arkane Austin. And instead of going out with a bang, they’ll expire with a whimper: the last update to the wretched Redfall.
What is Update 4 Bringing to the Table?
According to this tweet from the official Redfall account, you can look forward to (as much as any remaining Refall players can look forward to anything) “revamped Neighborhood and Nest systems, Single Player Pausing, Offline Mode, and more.” That’s all we’ve got so far. Of course, I’m sure that there will be more detailed information the closer we get to the launch of Update 4, whenever that ends up being. At least Arkane Austin, or whatever remains of it, will get that one small step closer to making the game bearable. I doubt it’ll do much, though.
Everything else Microsoft / Bethesda have been promising to deliver on Redfall is most likely permanently off the table. And I have no idea how all y’all that have purchased the game on launch and have played over the allowed limit will get your money back. You certainly deserve refunds, given that you’ve essentially been scammed by Microsoft and Bethesda using false promises. Lesson learned though, right? No more pre-ordering, no more letting fomo get the better of you, okay? Let’s just pour one out for Arkane Austin, and while we’re at it, for Tango as well.
