Dreams Early Access Players Will Get Full Game Ahead of Official Launch
The release date of Dreams, the upcoming game where you make games from developer Media Molecule, has been announced. It’s coming out on February 14th; smack-dab in the middle of Valentine’s Day. That is, unless you’ve been playing the game in early access. If you did, you’re gonna get the full game on February 11th, via the Creator Patch update.
If you’re one of the people that started playing Dreams while it was in early access, the developers Media Molecule have a nice little bonus for you. On February 11th at 12 PM GMT (4 AM Pacific Time), they’ll release a Creator Patch update. When it drops, you’ll be able to “play and enjoy all the new features coming with the official launch of Dreams.” The others, however, will have to wait for February 14th, which is the official launch date. Also, the full game is now up for pre-order, and yes, it is a PlayStation 4 exclusive; at least, for now.
Now, if you don’t know what Dreams is, let me get you up to speed a little bit. Basically, it’s less of a game, and more of a game creation engine. The game is making your own game, as it were. As you can see in the trailer below, there’s a ton of different things you can make. Possibilities range from cutesy platformers, to surreal and exciting experiences, to downright nightmares. And Dreams allows for almost any genre you can think of. I mean, the video lingers on a near-perfect mirror of Wipeout. It’s fun stuff.
As for what you can expect from the Creator Patch update, you can check out the full list on the official PlayStation Blog announcement. Quick rundown: you can expect new Creator Kits for DreamShaping and Homespaces, called Welcome Home and Ancient Temple. Also, there will be an improved UI, a new Homespace introduction, and some changes and improvements to already-existing tools.
