As the trailer opens, our two main characters, Daud and Billie Lurk (voiced by Michael Madsen and Rosario Dawson, respectively), have a short conversation. We learn that Billie managed to find her mentor Daud, who has been in deep hiding. Since Billie was a killer-for-hire, Daud sends her on one final mission (of course) – to kill The Outsider, a deity. Since The Outsider is the source of dark powers and has a mysterious cult around him, Daud feels that he must be removed. After that, the video launches into a series of grizzly murders and nightmarish creatures, set to Marilyn Manson’s “Killing Strangers”, of all things.

The game takes place in Karnaca, a familiar setting to all Dishonored fans. She’s sporting a mechanical arm, and a host of deadly gadgets. That’s not the interesting part, though. The trailer makes it pretty clear that she’s using magical powers of her own. So far in the series, only The Outsider himself could bestow those powers on mortals. If Billie is out to get him, how did she come across magic? The Outsider grants abilities to mortals that he deems worthy of using them, but he does so solely for his own amusement. That leaves several options open. Either he’s so unafraid of Billie that he gave her powers to level the playing field, or he’s willingly going into death. That, or somebody else armed Billie with magic. Can’t wait to find out, personally.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a standalone adventure. It will launch on September 15th, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the full trailer below.
