CriticDB Launches January 30th - New, Independent Video Game Review Aggregator

If you’re fed up with Metacritic aggregating reviews that are opposite of user reviews and Opencritic not having enough traction then CriticDB might be just the thing you need. CriticDB is a new video game aggregation and discovery platform that will be launching on January 30th. Created by the people that have 12 years of experience in video games coverage and are also founders of TechRaptor it aims to cater to players, developers, PR companies and games media as well. It will, therefore, not be just a review aggregator, but also a place for you to discover and talk about new games.

What is CriticDB?

CriticDB states that their primary mission is to collect previews and reviews of video games from the web and in that way provide a place to connect gamers and games. It also hopes that it will be a place where Outlets and PR will connect easier.

CriticDB aims to be a positive force in the industry, highlighting great work and games.

CriticDB will launch with a variety of features aimed at creating a community around game discovery. Video Games will have their dedicated pages with both critic and user reviews, previews and similar games. Outlets and creators will get their own pages as well so you can get a picture of who is giving their opinions on video games. Community will be able to add missing games on their own and link similar games together so people can contribute as well. You’ll also be able to add games to various lists and share them with friends. There’s a gamification aspect to user involvement because you’ll be able to earn XP and badges with contributions. On the professional side of things Outlets and Authors will be able to claim their pages and provide contacts for PR firms to be able to find them.

Joining CriticDB as an Outlet and Paid User

CriticDB will launch with aggregated reviews from 75 Outlets. This will amount to 20,000 reviews on the platform across 2,000 video game pages. New Outlets will be able to apply for access. Once accepted they’ll be able to verify their authors and add additional reviews and previews to the platform.

At launch CriticDB will have both free and paid user accounts. The difference will be that paid users can write their own user reviews for games. Primarily, being a paid user will show your appreciation for the platform and prevent an excess amount of ads on the website. If you don’t care about writing user reviews, but hate seeing ads you’ll be able to pay for an ad-free subscription as a user.

New features and upgrades will be implemented over time, but even with what they’re launching with I’m sure gamers will have a good platform to add to their bookmarks. Rutledgge Daugette, Co-Founder of CriticDB had this to say:

I wanted to build a place that could uplift both Games and Outlets, leveraging both to create an ecosystem of game discovery. Along that same vein, we wanted this platform to become a way that Outlets and PR could enhance how they’re able to connect and work together to cover more titles.

We wish everyone at CriticDB a successful launch and hope that gamers will have a new useful place to visit and help them find cool new things to play. As an additional note I’d also like to mention that CriticDB will be 100% human made and no AI will be present. For more information and preview of things to come please visit criticdb.com.
