Counter-Strike 2 System Requirements
Counter-Strike 2 has been officially announced as a free upgrade to CS:GO. On the official Twitter account, Valve post that a limited test for Counter-Strike 2 is starting today. According to the game’s FAQ, release time is set for summer 2023. The only question that is not answered yet is what are Counter-Strike 2 PC System Requirements?
Minimal System Requirements for Counter-Strike 2
Although the game is announced as “the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike’s history”, Valve didn’t reveal many game’s new features. The only important thing is that Counter-Strike 2 is using new Source 2 game engine unlike CS:GO. As the official system requirements for Counter-Strike 2 have not been released yet, we can only make assumptions based on the requirements of other games that utilize Source 2.The first game that uses Source 2 engine is DOTA 2. It’s minimal requirements are the following:
- Processor: Dual core from Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz (SSE4.1 supported)
- 4GB RAM
- DirectX 11 compatible graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 8600/9600GT, ATI/AMD Radeon HD2600/3600)
Recommended Counter-Strike 2 System Requirements
Another game in Source 2 engine is Half-Life: Alyx. This is a PC VR title and as such probably has a bit skewed system requirements, but looking at them they feel like the thing you should have as recommended system setup to play Counter Strike 2.
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10
- Processor: Core i5-7500 / Ryzen 5 1600
- Memory: 12 GB RAM
- Graphics: GTX 1060 / RX 580 – 6GB VRAM
Everything above these will give you better FPS, which is a must for those playing CS2 competitively. Source 2 engine should bring improvements particularly in the way the game will use more of your GPU than your CPU. This means that those with better graphics cards should get better visuals without loss of frames per second. If your computer has an integrated graphics card or an old one you will feel the switch to the new engine hit your performance the worst.
Since the Limited Test players are not under any NDA, we are expecting first gameplay videos to pop up on YouTube in the next few hours with some first hand impressions about System Requirements. As soon as we get any official information we’ll update the guide.
