After ten years of small leaks and false hopes, Ubisoft finally officially announced Beyond Good & Evil 2 on E3 2017. Since then, they’ve been drip-feeding tiny bits of information about the game. In the latest trailer, Ubisoft got Gabrielle Shrager, Story Content Director, and Emile Morel, Associate Creative Director, to talk more about the game’s world, the many space ships, and the crew you can assemble.

Gabrielle Shrager talks about the many different characters you can meet. The game is about pirates, so, of course, freedom is paramount. Role-playing will also be a large element of the game, so you’ll be able to customize your character a lot. You can be anything from a vanilla human to a full-on hybrid (human-animal splices). You’ll run into all kinds of characters while exploring the game’s universe, and they’ll all have their personalities. So, if you pick up a crew member but get on their nerves, they might just leave your party.

In the second portion of the video, Emile Morel tells us more about the different ships in the game and how different crew members affect them. It seems you’ll start off pretty small, with only a hoverbike to your name. Later on, you’ll get ships of various sizes that can accommodate crew members. Different crew members will give various bonuses to certain ships. Therefore, your choice of ship and crew will matter a lot.
