AWAKEN: Astral Blade Launches Today for PC and PlayStation 5
AWAKEN: Astral Blade might be what Metroidvania fans are looking for. This side-scrolling action-packed game is being released digitally today on Playstation 5 and on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Developed by Dark Pigeon Games and published by ESDigital Games it will be discounted by 10% during a time-limited launch period for PS Plus subscribers and on Steam. Those that want to support the developer even more can decide to go for the deluxe version of the game. It comes with Golden Scale Set, an original soundtrack by Alexandria Migova and a digital artbook. PS5 digital edition comes with an exclusive Limitless Set skin for Tania.
What is AWAKEN: Astral Blade?
In AWAKEN: Astral Blade, players join Tania, a bionic girl on a perilous mission to uncover the dark secrets of the Horace Islands. The game is part of Sony’s China Hero Project, adding a prestigious feather in its cap with the “Best in Play GDC 2024” award. It’s a Metroidvania-inspired game whose combat is filled with combos and parry attacks accompanied by quick rise and slow down time abilities that help you survive a fight. It has a branching story that hinges on crucial decisions that lead to multiple endings. This all takes place on a map optimized for exploration. To be able to conquer tougher challenges you’ll have to upgrade your character’s combat skills by using Aether. You can slo buy items with it or upgrade your weapons or purchase abilities.
In the launch trailer above you can see the game has a really nice graphical style with flashy combat and boss fights galore. I’m digging the fact that the game was developed by a group of friends.
