Assasin’s Creed next game might have been accidentally leaked

As the Easter egg in Watch Dogs 2 shows, there might be an Assassin’s Creed game in the works by the name of Osiris. Now, the rumors about a game called Assasin’s Creed Empire have started circulating, all thanks to a Swiss retailer WOG who has a product page for it.

The page gives little to no real information.

The page has literally nothing, no schreenshots, no synopsis, no box art, all it has is the name. It might be a mistake, but as we all know, these things often prove to be true after a little while. Assasin’s Creed series has taken a sabbatical in 2016 and it was about time. After a surplus of titles in a very short time, Ubisoft has realized that you can have too much of a good thing and decided to call off the next iteration for 2016. Now in 2017, it is already time to expect news about the next game. All speculations point to an E3 introduction, with the release date sometime around New Year’s.

The name Empire is another new moment here. Yes, if we are talking about a game set in ancient Egypt, the name might as well be fitting. Even more so if it is set at the very beginning of the rule of the Pharaohs. They first pyramids were built between 2700 BC and 1700 BC. The entire written history stands between us and these monuments of the ancient world. It is a very good setting if the Assasin’s Creed series wants to shake things up from the very core.

Assasin’s Creed managed to stay in the news in 2016 mostly due to the live action film, starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons. Unfortunately, the film followed most game-based-movies problems, such as not understanding what made the original material so interesting in the first place. We can only hope Ubisoft film division does better in the future.

The last AC game was Syndicate, published in 2015. We will keep you posted as soon as we have more news on the new Assasin’s Creed game.
