Anodyne 2 Release Date Set For May, New Trailer Released
Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is going to be released at some point in May this year. It’s going to be released on regular PCs, freedom-obsessed PCs and elitist PCs, and the creators are aiming to have it up on Steam, GOG, Humble, Itch and Kartridge (of Kongregate fame). To celebrate the wonderful news, they’ve put together a new trailer that shows off both the 2D and 3D portions of the game.
Although there’s a “2” in the name, this is not a direct sequel to the original Anodyne. You don’t need to play it to understand this one, but you should – it’s a great, sincere game in the vein of Undertale and The Real Texas. Anodyne 2: Return to Dust will mostly play out in low-poly 3D, reminiscent of early Playstation titles, but it will be peppered with 2D, top-down dungeons like those from the olden Zelda games.
You’ll get to play as Nova, a nano cleaner who has to collect nano dust (duh). The dust is scattered across the world of New Theland, and you’ll collect it by entering the microscopic dungeons we’ve mentioned above. After you have it, you’ll need to bring it to a mysterious thing called The Center, for recycling. It’s all a bit cryptic, but if you’ve played any of Analgesic’s games before, you know that’s par for the course.
If you’re interested to see more of the game, you can check out the dev’s Youtube channel. It’s not exactly rich with footage, but there’s a couple of other videos that explain some stuff in detail. The press release we received mentioned more footage should be released soon, so keep your eyes peeled in the coming months. Or, you know, just continue reading our site, and we’ll keep you posted.
