NBA 2K23 Call Plays in MyCareer, Call for Screen Not Working
Is calling plays not working for you in NBA 2K23 MyCareer? In modern NBA 2K games, the play-calling feature is an essential part of gameplay. It adds layers of complexity and available strategies for skilled gamers to execute their ideas. And that’s exactly why are many players frustrated when the Call Plays feature doesn’t work in NBA 2K23 as it should. If you don’t know how to call plays in NBA 2K23 MyCareer, or if calling for a screen off ball doesn’t work, read on as we explain everything we know about it.
How to Call Plays in NBA 2K23
Before we jump to any potential issues, let’s first see the basics – how to call plays in NBA 2K23. Here’s a breakdown of how it works:
- Press L1 (PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5), LB (Xbox One / Xbox Series X/S), or L (Nintendo Switch).
- Buttons will appear above your teammates.
- Press the button designating which players you want to call.
- Select one of the available Call Play options.
Alternatively, you can simply push left on the D-pad, which will prompt the plays menu. From there, use L2 and R2 to go through the available options. With that said, for some players, it seems like this feature doesn’t work. What’s the catch here? Well, that’s because Calling Plays is not unlocked from the get-to in MyCareer. In order to be able to call plays in NBA 2K23 MyCareer, you will first need to unlock it.
This can be done by completing a quest you’ll get later in MyCareer. After you complete uncle Bobby’s main quest, a side quest will pop up from Zion. This quest asks you to activate leadership skills in order to get the on-court coach badge. And that’s the play calling badge. What you need to do is to complete 25 leadership goals to unlock it. Once you’ve done it, you should be able to call plays in NBA 2K23 MyCareer.
NBA 2K23 Off Ball Call for Screen Not Working
However, even if you unlock call plays, you should know that the whole mechanic is currently quite bugged. Like a lot of other things in NBA 2K23 at launch. For many players, it simply won’t work as it should. The call play menu would either not appear, or it will not show any advanced plays. For example, calling for a screen of the ball is currently not working at all following the most recent update.
For this, there’s currently no solution, and some fans speculate that 2K has decided to nerf this, as it was too easy to score with this strategy, but we are not sure about it. When we have more info about why the off-ball call for the screen is not working, we will make sure to update the article.
Seems to be a glitch and 2K support has been slow to resolve. I created a second Build / MyCareer save file and the call for screen worked for the first NBA game first shift my player was on the court, but after a substitution, it stopped working….
Same here .
Same it worked at first and it works in the college flashback games but not the NBA season games when u become a starter. It would help a lot to be able to quickly core the catch and shoot badge and things like that so it better not be nerfed on purpose.
