Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord – How to Declare War?

To declare war in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord, you first have to have your own faction or kingdom. We covered this matter in our How to Create Kingdom in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord guide, so check that out if you need help. Anyway, once you do have your own kingdom of faction, you can declare war by clicking on the “Declare War” option.

The problem here is that, at the time of writing, this option is grayed out. This is because kingdom management as such is not yet available, as the game is in early access. As a temporary substitute, you can start raiding villages. This has a chance of them declaring war on you. It’s not exactly the same, granted, but it’s basically all you can do at the moment, as far as we know.

How to Make Peace in Bannerlord?

To make peace in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord, you have to find the opposing general on the battlefield. Speak with them, and choose to discuss something else. You should be able to barter for peace in that sub-menu. It’ll cost you a couple grand, which is probably a favorable alternative to doing battle. Also, if you’re really charming and good at persuasion, you might be able to convince the general to defect to your side. That’s not really making peace, but hey, it’s there.

Now, the “proper” way of bartering for peace is picking that option from the same menu from which you can declare war. Unfortunately, just like declaring war, bartering for peace is grayed out. So, the only way we know of making peace is speaking with the general, at least, for now. But why would you have to make peace if you can’t even declare war? Well…

Factions Declaring War Randomly in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord

There seems to be some kind of bug in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord which causes factions, sometimes more than one at the same time, to declare war on you. This might happen because you’ve sent a party member to work on their own, and they’ve made some sort of mess. However, that’s not always the case; apparently, it can happen for no discernible reason. Unfortunately, there’s no way you can work around this problem; you can either reload a previous save, or barter for peace as described above.

First I apologize for my english. I found a way to declare war as a king. You should attack to villagers of which kingdom’s you want to declare war. But your magnificent amount of releationn will decrease(0 to -60) with that villagers’ village and near cities’ artisans. Also for peace you should give some money to a vassal or a king. I hope you can understand LUL

You should not in fact do this, this is a crime, the better way is to fight an opposing lord, let them go you will not commit any crimes or lose relation in fact you’ll gain relation for letting them go, and make way more money.

The last part of article, with kingdom declaring war randomly, has no sense…

Kingdoms don’t need a reason to declare war(in fact territory is the reason)… Why do you think that there is only the player who can declare war… NPC can try to get your territory without the need that you provoke them… like in reality!

The only thing that we can call bug, but it campaign relative, it’s when the quest declare war for player(sabotage), but it’s part of the vengeance from the main quest(that is not finished i suppose)

Anyway, thanks for the 2 first parts, searched a lot on how to activate these button, now i understand that i lose my time ๐Ÿ™

PS : Sorry Mr Language Teacher, english is not my first language, doing my best ๐Ÿ˜‰

The fact is, it’s not another kingdom attacking you, but YOUR kingdom declaring war for no reason. So, yes, it’s a bug…
