Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Trailer Shows Off Glavenus
There’s a new video of Iceborne, the upcoming expansion for Monster Hunter World. It’s called the “Glavenus trailer”, and it shows off a bunch of stuff, yet forgets to mention what exactly a Glavenus is. As someone who isn’t a veteran of the series, I’m having a whole lot of fun trying to figure out which of the things from the new trailer is a Glavenus. Join me after the break and check the new footage yourself.
It sounds like a monster name, doesn’t it? Either that, or a Roman general. So it fits the monster naming convention. But there’s a whole bunch of monsters in the trailer. Some of them are reskins of those from the base game, but some are showing up in Monster Hunter World for the first time. Every single one of them could be a Glavenus.
Maybe it’s that fancy mountaintop hub? The new city is perched on a cliff overlooking a frozen bay, and it has a quaint little hot spring that allows hunters to relax and torture their palicos by dangling them above the water. There’s even a sauna, and a set of spa-appropriate clothing for everyone. Or perhaps Glavenus are the weird squirrel lemurs with big, disturbing eyes, the ones that live around the hot spring? There’s no way to know.
It could also be any one of the lesser species shown off, like the snow badgers you can ride, or the mosquitoes with glowing green sacs, or the weird plump gulls that roam the city. It’s a question that will drive me mad until September 6th, which is when Iceborne arrives on consoles and PC. All will be revealed then. Or at least the bit that matters, and that’s the answer to the age-old question of what a Glavenus is.
