Mass Effect: Andromeda – spoiler warning, the Angara race is introduced
The closer we get to the release, the stronger is the dripfeed of information regarding the new Mass Effect. If you are trying to escape all spoilers – good luck. If not, welcome! Let’s talk about the Angara. One Angara, to be specific, by the name of Jaal.
From what can be gathered, the Angara are a people of emotions and openness, who will let you know exactly where they stand. This does not seem strategically savvy, so it might not come as a surprise that they have been on the losing end of an 80-year battle against the Kett.
Jaal is a lieutenant in the Angara resistance, although he is a descendant of a famous family. He will join the Tempest crew in order to make sure you are not the enemy. The Kett were also newcomers to Andromeda, just like humans are now, and it is understandable that the Angara are not too quick to trust Ryder and the crew. Of course, things can change in time, if you prove yourself.
The details of Jaal’s potential loyalty mission are not out yet, but we assume there will be one, just like for Peebee. It might be interesting to see it develop, perhaps taking on the idea of noble descent and helping Angara in some way.
In other Mass Effect news, there has been talk of multiplayer and microtransactions. It seems Andromeda will follow the Mass Effect 3’s practice of all-things-multiplayer being free. This includes characters, abilities and maps, while the multiplayer missions that yield both MP and SP stuff will still require you to play them – or send your AI team instead, which will get you the SP rewards. Simple as!
Mass Effect: Andromeda launches on March 28, 2017, on PC, PS4/PS4 Pro, and Xbox One.
