Brainiac is one of twenty-eight characters in the Injustice 2 roster. He got his first introduction in the Shattered Alliances 5 story trailer, as the de facto main antagonist. For those not in the know, Brainiac is one of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe, despite his silly name. He travels the universe looking for knowledge. Once he conquers a world and gathers all its knowledge, he then destroys it. On top of his superhuman intellect, he commands a huge army, has superhuman strength and the power of flight, and a few more superpowers.

In the Brainiac gameplay trailer, we get to see him use his powers to full capacity. He can fire projectiles, as well as summon a beam of energy from one of his spaceships. However, his main weapon are the electrified tendrils on his back. He can use them to grab the enemy and deliver some devastating combos. They also serve as a kind of shield that can deliver an electric shock to the opponent.

His ultimate move is to summon four of his cyborg soldiers to trap the opponent in place. Then, his (admittedly silly-looking) skull-shaped ship appears dramatically from the clouds and fires off a huge, blue beam to destroy the opponent. You know, the same blue beam that’s in every single superhero movie since The Avengers? That one. You can check out the Brainiac gameplay trailer below.

Injustice 2 is hitting the stores on May 16th, 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A companion app on Android and iOS will also be available.
