Fans of Horizon Zero Dawn got their first look at the upcoming story DLC, called The Frozen Wilds. The DLC will be coming out some time this year, but they haven’t announced the exact release date yet. Frozen Wilds will give players a whole new area to run around, new hunts, and a new side of the base game’s story. Additionally, we’ll be facing off new robot enemies, and by the looks of the trailer, it’ll be some kind of gigantic mechanical beast.

Below is a short list of new stuff that The Frozen Wilds will have to offer. Obviously, you have to already own Horizon Zero Dawn to access this DLC.

  • Uncover a compelling new story.
  • Explore a brand new area
  • Face new machines
  • Enhanced for PS4 Pro with dynamic 4K gaming, improved graphics and environments, and High Dynamic Range visuals

Sony revealed The Frozen Wilds in a cinematic trailer, introducing us to the harsh, icy lands of the far north. Apparently, this is where seasoned hunters come to prove their ultimate worth. However, Aloy doesn’t care for that. She wants to uncover the mysteries of the Mountain, guarded by some kind of dangerous beast. It’s unclear at which point in the story the DLC takes place, but judging by the armor that Aloy is wearing, it could well pick up where the base game left off.
