How to Solve Chess Puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy

To solve a small chess puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy, you first need to find an object in the room that you can interact with. It could be a chair, or a vase, or something like that. It just has to be an item that you can cast a spell on. I can’t get into too many specifics, because there are slight differences between these small chess puzzles, depending on where you find them. In each case, though, you need to drag that item onto the chessboard and use transfiguration on it. That should turn the random item into a chess piece that you can move around the map, more or less freely. As in, you don’t have to wait for the other side to make a move.

So, the next step to solve this type of Hogwarts Legacy chess puzzle is to move the piece you got so that the opposite side’s king is in check. Obviously, depending on the color of the piece, you must place it on a tile of the correct color. Moreover, you need to move the piece according to the rule of chess. Knights can only move in the shape of the letter L, bishops only diagonally, etc. After you manage to put the king in check, the piece will crumble and a very brief cutscene will play, showing you where the chest has spawned. Open it and be on your way.
