Best Wand Core to Choose in Hogwarts Legacy – Phoenix, Unicorn or Dragon

The best wand core to choose in Hogwarts Legacy – Phoenix Feather, Unicorn Hair or Dragon Heartstring – depends entirely on your personal preferences. Each core has its upsides and downsides in the general lore of the Harry Potter universe. Do you want a wand that’s powerful, but capricious? A wand that’s highly dependable, but not as strong? Those are the things you need to keep in mind when choosing. Here’s the general breakdown of what wand cores are like.

  • Dragon Heartstring – Produces powerful magic. They “learn” more quickly than other cores. Bond strongly with current owner. Most prone to accidents, and are easiest to turn to the Dark Arts.
  • Unicorn Hair – Produces consistent magic. Very faithful to their owner, dependable, and extremely difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. The downside to their dependability is that it’s the least powerful of cores.
  • Phoenix Feather – Produces a great range of magic. Extremely versatile and very powerful. On the other hand, they’re the most difficult to tame, and sometimes act of their own accord.

So, those are the things you need to remember when it comes to the best choice of wand core (Unicorn Hair, Dragon Heartstring, or Phoenix Feather) in Hogwarts Legacy. Now, we’re not entirely sure how these attributes manifest in-game. Or, indeed, if there is any effect whatsoever. It could be that the choice is entirely unimportant; we simply haven’t had time to test them all out yet. We’ll be sure to update the guide with more information as we gather it.
