Co-op in Halo 5: Guardians

In order to play a round of co-op, you’ll have to do the following:
  1. Start the game.
  2. Select Campaign.
  3. Choose Co-op.
  4. Invite friends.
  5. Start playing.
You’ll be able to invite up to 3 friends and if there’s less than 4 players, AI bots will fill up the empty spaces. There’s no way to connect with random players and friends at the same time, since there’s no matchmaking in place.

In terms of progression, saving and collectibles, it plays just like a single player campaign. You keep what you find, you’ll unlock levels and you can drop in or out of a game at any point.

343 shouldn’t have released Halo 5 without local coop play. They just wanted to rush the game out to make $$$ for themselves!

I just purchased my first Xbox one. I have no friends yet. So this means until I make friends, I can’t play coop. Really sucks, they should have put in a matchmaking element like in destiny. Fireteam, is randomly picked and put into the game. Cmon 343 industries, this is just fundamental game design. Geez.

It shouldn’t be so difficult to play multiplayer or co-op for halo 5. What if someone doesn’t have a console or the game. The creators of halo 5 ruined the best part of it. The will lose a lot of followers due to them taking split screen out. It was a stupid idea on their part. They should have thought better regarding multi player.

They took out the split screen for performance reasons. Most people play online and they know that and running split screen takes more power which would subtract from how awesome they can make the game. They would have had to sacrifice more important things like frame rate and graphics as well as the size and scope of the levels as if both players were in a different part of the map they would have to render both of them which means they have to make the level either smaller and shorter or around half as pretty. They didn’t take it out for the fuck of it. Know what you’re talking about before you shit on a company for making a decision you don’t like. It bummed me out too but it was a necessary sacrifice to keep Halo on the cutting edge and relevant without making a trillion sacrifices elsewhere for a feature that only a fraction of the fanbase will actually use anymore. THAT would have been stupid.
