What Do The Frogs Do in Minecraft

In short, frogs don’t do much in much in Minecraft. They just kinda frog around. You know, jump, chill out on lily pads, croak, that kind of thing. They can jump up to three blocks into the air, and they don’t seem to take any fall damage. Frogs also don’t really drop anything, aside from a pittance of XP when killed.

So, with that said, where do frogs spawn in Minecraft? Well, most commonly, you can find them in swamps and mangrove swamps. However, depending on where the tadpoles hatch, they can be one of three types: Temperate, Cold, and Warm. You get different tadpoles by breeding them. Basically, get two frogs next to a body of water and feed them Slimeballs until you see hearts. One of them will then go into the water and lay eggs.

Speaking of feeding, what do frogs eat in Minecraft, I hear you ask. The answer is, Small Slimes, Slimeballs, and Small Magma Cube. I believe they used to be able to eat fireflies, but that has since been changed. Probably because, in real life, fireflies are poisonous to frogs.

Last, but not least, I know you’re wondering whether or not you can tame frogs in Minecraft. We’ve covered that in detail in this guide, but the short answer is: no, you can’t. Not really. They can’t be proper pets. However, you can come close by leading them around or enclosing them in a pen.
