Vampyr How to Gain XP and Level Up - Should You Kill Citizens
Gaining XP and leveling up is an important part of Vampyr, like in any RPG. The game offers a bunch of different ways to gain XP. The easiest way to earn XP in Vampyr is to feed on people a lot, but that has its consequences, and has you killing innocent citizens. Plus, the leveling system can be a little difficult to figure out. So, here’s how to gain XP and level up in Vampyr.
How to Earn XP in Vampyr?
There are many ways to earn XP in Vampyr. The most obvious is completing quests, both main and side quests, such as investigations. As far as pure racking up of XP goes, the best route to take is to be a brutal bloodsucker. The game kinda eggs you towards that, and it’s up to you if you want to roleplay that way.
The innocent citizens in Vampyr are basically XP bags, if you suck their blood. You need to mesmerize them through dialogue, take them to the safe area that the game marks for you, and feed on them. Your Mesmerize level has to be either equal to theirs or higher. The important thing to note is that the better you know the person you want to feed on, the more XP you’ll get. So, take your time to get to know your dinners a little better before eating them, and leave the carnage for later in the game.
Keep in mind that killing too many people will drastically lower the health of a district. If you become too thirsty, the district will collapse, and you’ll have much more enemies to reckon with. It’s a delicate balancing act, so don’t get greedy.
Do I Have to Kill Innocent Citizens in Vampyr?
No, you don’t have to kill civilians in Vampyr. You can play through the game without harming innocents. However, you’re going to earn much less XP that way, making the game potentially more difficult. You can make up for that by completing investigations and other side activities that don’t involve sucking blood. In fact, you’re going to have to do that in order to keep your skills up to snuff. Still, it’s kinda cool that you have the pacifist option.
How to Level Up in Vampyr?
In order to level up and increase your skills in Vampyr, you have to sleep. You can do so in the hospital and in other safe locations that you discover on the way. Sleeping will allow you to spend you XP to boost your skills. The need for sleeping might not be immediately apparent, especially if you mix it up with the Mesmerize level, which can happen.
