How to Unlock All Characters in Mortal Kombat 1
Mortal Kombat 1 has now officially launched! At least for those who own the Premium and Kollector’s editions of the game. At launch, the popular fighting game arrives with 38 playable characters. However, not all of them are available from the get-go. Rather, you will only be able to use 21 Main Characters and 10 Kameo Characters. The rest of the roster is locked behind various milestones or is a part of the paid content. Here’s how to unlock all Mortal Kombat 1 characters:
- Shang Tsung = A preorder exclusive character. If you didn’t preorder the game, Shang Tsung can also be purchased directly from the digital storefront on your platform.
- Havik = Unlocked by completing the Main Kampaign Story Mode.
- Scorpion (Kameo Character) = Unlocked by Reaching Profile Level 5
- Sub-Zero (Kameo Character) = Unlocked by Reaching Profile Level 10
- Kung Lao (Kameo Character) = Unlocked by Reaching Profile Level 15
- Shujinko (Kameo Character) = Unlocked by Reaching Profile Level 20
- Motaro (Kameo Character) = Unlocked by Reaching Profile Level 25
In case you don’t know, Kameo Characters cannot be selected as main fighters. Rather, they “assist” selected characters from the main roster. That is, they act as support characters, which you can call upon to assist you in fights. They can only perform a single move before leaving the stage. You can summon them again after a cooldown.
The fastest and most efficient way to level up your Profile Level is by playing Invasion Mode and making sure to end matches with brutalities. This will net you the biggest amount of XP per match. With that said, that’s all you need to know about unlocking characters in Mortal Kombat 1.
