Overwatch 2 PC Restarting or Shutting Down Issue
Is your computer shutting down or restarting when you are trying to play Overwatch 2? It has been a week since the release of OW2. It was definitely a less-than-ideal launch, but Blizzard is slowly stamping out all bugs, server issues, and other glitches. However, in that process, as it usually goes in programming, some other bugs inevitably emerge. The newest such problem is related to the PC version of the game. In this guide, we explain why is your PC restarting or shutting down when you try to play Overwatch 2, and explore some possibilities to fix this issue.
PC Shutting Down or Restarting Overwatch 2
Following the most recent OW2 update, a number of players started reporting about the issue of Overwatch 2 causing their PCs to restart or shut down completely. This is, of course, a rather worrying issue, as it is never a good sign to have your hardware being shut down without your input, especially when that’s happening when you are trying to play a video game. So, why is this happening? And, can it be fixed or bypassed? Here’s what we know.
The problem started occurring on Monday when players started reporting it on Battle.net forums and Reddit. And, the good news is that Blizzard is well aware of the issue. They are currently investigating why is this happening. The bad news is that, at the time of writing, it hasn’t yet been fixed.

Blizzard is still working on finding what’s causing the issue. If you’re experiencing issues with your PC shutting down when running Overwatch 2, the best thing you can do right now is to head to this official forum thread, and post your DXDIAG. This will help developers investigate the issue and accelerate the fixing process. Here’s how to do that:
- Press Windows Key + R.
- In the Run window type dxdiag and press Enter.
- In the DirectX window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file “dxdiag” and save it to your Desktop. Open the new dxdiag file with Notepad.
- In the posting section hit the </> button for “Preformatted text” then paste (Ctrl+V) the DXDIAG contents.
