Outriders Cross Save

Cross save in Outriders has been the subject of discussion among interested gamers who are planning to play on more than one platform; they want to know how they can transfer their progress. After all, the game has a fairly solid cross-play system, so one could assume that cross saves will be similar. As it turns out, that’s not the case, and we’ll explain it in more detail in our Outriders Cross Save guide.

How Does Cross Save Work in Outriders?

Cross saves in Outriders only work “within an eco-system,” according to the official Twitter account. What that means is that you’ll only be able to transfer a save from, for example, a PlayStation 4 to a PlayStation 5. Or, if you’re more on the Xbox side of the isle, you’ll have the option to transfer your save from Xbox One to Xbox Series X or S. There’s no word on whether you can take a save from a PS5 down to a PS4, so I wouldn’t risk it until more info comes out before launch. Better safe than sorry.

The good news is that you’ll be able to transfer your save from a current gen console to a next gen one, if you purchase it in the meantime. You get to keep all your progress from the demo, and the next gen update will be free for everyone. The bad news is that you can’t switch platforms in order to keep your Outriders cross save. No going from PS5 and Xbox to Steam, and vice versa. On top of that, if you start playing on a PS4, and want to upgrade, your only option without starting from square one is the PS5.

So, that’s the situation. It’s not ideal, but there you have it. Maybe things will change before launch; we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, you can check out our Where to Find Outriders Demo on PS4 & PS5 and Crossplay – How to Enable guides for more info on what’s currently happening in the game.
