How to Unlock Characters in MultiVersus
Not sure how to unlock additional characters in MultiVersus? The free-to-play crossover platform fighter is already available for free for those players who have played previous alpha tests or have received a Twitch Drop code by watching an hour of any MultiVersues stream. Furthermore, the early access beta is also available for those who purchase a Founder’s Pack bundle. However, the starting roster of available characters is rather small. Thus, players naturally want to know how they can expand it. In this guide, we explain all the methods of unlocking new characters in MultiVersus.
How to Unlock Additional Characters in MultiVersus
At the beta launch, MultiVersus has a total of 16 available characters. However, only four are initially unlocked – Shaggy, Jake, Taz, and Harley Quinn. After you finish the first tutorial, you’ll also get Wonder Woman. This leaves us with 11 locked characters. And that’s just for starters, as, based on the Premium Edition of Founder’s Pack, there are potential 19 new characters. That’s because the Premium Edition comes with 30 Character Tokens. If we spend 11 on the currently locked, we are left with 19 to use for the future characters.
Thus, the first way to unlock additional characters is with Character Tokens. You receive these by purchasing any of three Founder’s Packs – Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Editions. Another option is by using some of the available currencies in the game. There are two types of currency in MultiVersus. Coins are a F2P currency which you earn by playing the game and doing just about anything – playing online matches, levelling up the battle pass, your characters, profile, completing missions, and so on. You can then use these coins to unlock more playable fighters in MultiVersus.
Another MultiVersues currency is Gleamium. This one can only be bought with real-life money. Asides from unlocking additional characters in MultiVersus, you can also use Gleamium to buy premium cosmetic items, such as Character skins, Ring out VFX animations, Taunts, Sticker emotes, and Banners. Unlocking a character will cost you 700 Gleamium (around $10), or a total of 7,700 (at least $70) to unlock them all. Thus, it is much cheaper to buy the Standard Edition of Founder’s Pack, which costs $39.99 and comes with 15 Character Tokens.
