How to fix Black Ops 6 New Update Available Bug
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has had its fair share of post-launch bugs, and one recurring issue players face is the “New update available please update via the launcher” bug, which prevents the game from downloading the latest patch. If you’re stuck seeing the update message but can’t download the patch, don’t worry—there’s a straightforward fix.
How to fix Black Ops 6 “New update available please update via the launcher” Bug
Players are greeted with a notification that a new update is available, but when they attempt to download it, the update either stalls or fails to start entirely. This can be frustrating, especially if you’re eager to jump into the action after the update. What worked for me was going into Task Manager and manually closing both the Battle.net client and the Battle.net Update Agent. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Look for both Battle.net and Battle.net Update Agent in the list of running processes. Right-click on each and select End Task to fully close them. Relaunch the Battle.net launcher. It should now download the update without issues.
After following these steps, the update finally proceeded for me, allowing me to jump back into the game without any further problems. This bug seems to occur due to a miscommunication between the Battle.net launcher and the update agent. When either process doesn’t refresh properly, it can mistakenly prompt players to redownload the update, even if it’s already been queued. Manually resetting both processes helps clear the miscommunication.
