Diablo 2 Resurrected Doesn't Launch When Hitting Play
It’s safe to say that the release of Diablo 2 Resurrected didn’t exactly go without a hitch. Besides the problem with servers being overloaded and crashing, probably the biggest issue that many players are reporting is that D2 Resurrected doesn’t launch when hitting play. Instead of launching the game, D2R will start with a black screen, then immediately crash. Understandably, players are frustrated at getting this, especially after the entire Warcraft 3: Reforged fiasco. So, is there anything that you can do about this problem? Our Diablo 2 Resurrected Doesn’t Launch When Hitting Play guide will explain all of your options at the moment.
How to Fix the D2 Resurrected Doesn’t Launch When Hitting Play Error
Currently, there doesn’t appear to be a solution for this, at least from the players’ side. Blizzard have made it clear that they are aware of the problem, and have promised that a patch is forthcoming. However, it appears that this problem is affecting players that do not meet the minimum system requirements to play Diablo 2 Resurrected. For the sake of completeness, here are the system specifications:
- Operating System: Windows 10.
- Processor: Intel® Core i3-3250 / AMD FX-4350 Minimum, Intel® Core i5-9600k / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Recommended.
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 660 / AMD Radeon HD 7850 Minimum, Nvidia GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Recommended.
- Memory: 8 GB RAM Minimum, 16 GB RAM Recommended.
- Hard Drive Space: 30 GB.
- Network: Broadband Internet connection.
- Resolution: 1280 x 720.
If you do meet the system requirements, Blizzard recommends that you try out some of their troubleshooting fixes. These include updating your GPU drivers and closing all background applications to avoid any potential software conflicts. If that also doesn’t help, you should contact their Customer Support here. Although, since this is an ongoing issue, it’s unlikely that they will be able to help you, and you will need to wait for a patch. If neither of these work, Blizzard has asked that all of the Diablo 2 Resurrected players who do not meet the minimum system requirements, should request a refund through this link.
