Does Alan Wake 2 Have Early Access?

As far as we know, there is no early access for Alan Wake 2, meaning the release date and time is going to be the same for everyone. Time zone differences notwithstanding, of course. Which is not to say that there are no rewards for pre-ordering the game. If you do, you’ll get the Ornate Revolver Skin for Alan, the Oh Deer Diner Sweater for Saga, and the Survival Resources Pack for Saga. The latter contains health items and a few other things. As far as early access goes, though, no such thing. It’s nice to see a company not try to milk people for money with completely unnecessary and manufactured FOMO.

Do You Need to Play Alan Wake 1 before 2?

So, now that we’ve covered everything you should know about the release date and time of Alan Wake 2, let’s talk about whether you need to play Alan Wake 1 first. Well, according to the official FAQ from Remedy Entertainment: “Alan Wake 2 is a sequel but set up as a stand-alone experience. Newcomers can enjoy the thrill-ride with no past knowledge of the previous game. For the returning fans there are tons of lore and connections to be discovered.” So, yeah; if you haven’t played the original AW, there’s no need to do so now. Which doesn’t mean you shouldn’t, if you have the time and money. I mean, I’d recommend it. The shlock is just delightful.
