Gravity Rush Anime Released, Bridging Gap Between the Two Games
Sony have released a short anime about Gravity Rush. Its full name is Gravity Rush: The Animation – Overture, and it’s supposed to connect the plot of the previous game with that of the upcoming one. We’ve skipped through the scenes a bit, and found it to actually be mostly about Kat eating, or lamenting food going to waste. Scroll down to see the full twenty minute video for yourself.
The anime is actually a two part series – Part A consists of the first seven and a half minutes, while Part B takes up the rest of the space. The video description isn’t very generous with information, revealing only the fact that Kat will try to “take down a fearsome enemy threatening to unravel the fabric of the universe”. It does mention the anime was made by Studio Khara, the team that did animation production for a bunch of relatively recent Evangelion stuff.
It looks and sounds great, but does it have what it takes to warm the heart of series’ fans, to shift their minds into gear before the second game’s release? Well, that’s really up to you to decide. If you’re not interested in the story, you can safely skip it. If you want all the info you can get on the quirky inhabitants of Hekseville, it’s probably worth your time. Keep in mind, the characters speak a made-up language. English subtitles are provided with the video, but you’ll have to turn them on by clicking on the CC button in the lower right corner of the player.
Gravity Rush 2 will be released on Playstation 4 only, come January 20th. There’s a demo on PSN right now, if you’re looking to get a feel for the game before it’s out. We wholeheartedly suggest you give it a go.
