Nidavellir Legendary Chest – We May Need Some Special Equipment to Use This

In the Svartalfheim realm of God of War Ragnarok, there is a total of 13 legendary chests to be found. Some of them are easy to reach, some are a bit trickier, and some are seemingly impossible to reach. The legendary chest in Nidavellir is particularly puzzling for players. It’s easy to spot from the get-go, but you simply can not reach it. If you try to use an axe around it, Atreus will suggest that “We may need some special equipment to use this”. What does that mean exactly?

Well, in terms of exploration mechanics, God of War Ragnarok has a lot of Metroidvania aspects. This includes a lot of backtracking and unlocking previously locked regions or unreachable items. And that’s the case with the God of War Ragnarok Nidavellir legendary chest as well. In order to reach it, you’ll need to use the Draupnir Spear. The trick is, you’ll get this spear halfway through the game. Thus, you won’t be able to reach this Legendary Chest until much later in your playthrough.

Once you finally obtain the Draupnir Spear, all you need to do is use it to hit the steaming vent in the wooden pole below the platform with the legendary chest, and then use your spear to climb to the platform. Your GoW Ragnarok Nidavellir legendary chest will be there. Open it, and you’ll get Luminous Recovery Handles, a Blades attachment.
