God of War Ragnarok Announced for Next Year on PS5

One of Sony’s biggest announcements during the PlayStation 5 showcase was definitely the reveal of God of War Ragnarok. The sequel to the 2018 hit reboot God of War is going to come out in 2021. They released no further details about the game, aside from the logo. However, from the name alone, we can glean that things are going to get pretty stick for Kratos and Atreus. God of War Ragnarok Announced for Next Year on PS5

After the tremendous success of Santa Monica’s more sombre take on the murder-happy God of War, of course it was going to have a sequel. The name of the next entry in the franchise is plain and simple – God of War: Ragnarok. Tells you everything you need to know, essentially. The game has no release date yet, nor did Sony let us see any footage from the game, much less gameplay. All we know for now is that we’ll be playing through the next chapter of the saga of Kratos and Atreus at some point in 2021.

I’m really happy to see that they’ve taken their time with the new game, instead of getting it out the door as soon as possible. That said, I’m surprised that we’re already at the stage of Ragnarok. Yes, Baldur is dead, and that’s what kick-starts the proceedings, but there’s also supposed to be years of winter and other upsets before the final battle begins. I kinda expected this one to be the middle chapter, and then the third game to tie everything up. I’m not gonna complain too much, though, I just want to finally get the chance to smack Thor upside his stupid head.

Whatever the case may be, I’m super curious what God of War: Ragnarok is going to offer. If you remember those drawings from the end of the previous game, it’s gonna get pretty dark. I can’t wait for the game to come out. Considering the current state of the world, Ragnarok might indeed be coming in 2021.
