Diamond in The Rough Genshin Impact
Diamond in the Rough is a daily commission in Genshin Impact. In order to complete it, you just have to pick one of three cor lapis stones from the vendor. You’ll place down a bet, and if the piece you picked contains jade, you win. If you manage to get it right the first time, you’ll also unlock the Beginner’s Luck achievement. It might seem like a game of chance, but there are clues that will help you pick the right one. If you haven’t figured them out, our Genshin Impact Diamond in The Rough guide will show you what to do.
Which rock to choose in Diamond in The Rough?
The best way to figure out which rock contains the jade involves making the camera clip into the rocks. You can do this by choosing to take a closer look, switching to walking, turning the camera to face you while standing in front of the table, then slowly walking towards it and rotating the camera as necessary.
At some point, the camera will end up inside the rock. If it contains jade, you should see a swirling cube inside. Alternatively, you can check out the texture of the cor lapis – the lightest one is most probably the one you want.
Another useful method is to walk away from the table until the rocks disappear. Then, slowly approach – the first rock that spawns should be the one with the jade. You can also use elemental vision – the stone with the jade will either be lighter than the rest, or the line that moves through it will move faster.
Since there’s no surefire way to tell, you’ll probably have to repeat the process several times. If you do it enough times, you’ll develop a sense for it, which will allow you to unlock the Beginner’s Luck achievement soon enough.
What to do if all three rocks have swirl?
It’s a rare occurence, but you might run into a situation where all three rocks contain the swirling cube. If you do, use the other methods to decide which one you should pick.
What to do if all rocks are the same?
Another rare occurence, but it can happen. This usually means there’s no jade here – at all. Pick whichever you want, and you’ll have to come back and try again if you want the achievement.
Hey, I’m not sure if I’m doing it wrong or they changed things so you can’t do the camera clip thing reliably any more, but I can’t get the camera to reliably clip through stones, and the one time I did get it just right, and thought I saw what you were talking about I got the worst result possible. That said, could you give some tips, like your camera distance settings, and maybe post a screenshot of this “swirling cube” thing? I’m sick of losing money to this guy.
Thanks!
P.S. The elemental sight test isn’t working for me either.
