As we’ve covered before in our previous article on the Fortnite Playground, the new mode was supposed to be a literal playground. It would drop you into the map, with full freedom to do whatever you want. If somebody kills you, you just pop back in. You can build, explore, and just kinda mess around to your heart’s content. Sadly, when the mode launched recently, something apparently went horribly wrong. Matchmaking just refused to work, in any of the modes. Plus, queues for the Playground mode were ridiculous.

As a result, Epic Games decided to pull the new mode completely. And, as of writing this article, the Playground mode still hasn’t returned. As the developers put it on the Fortnite subreddit: “We know you want to get back out to the Playground LTM. We’ve got multiple teams working to get this mode back into your hands so you can let your imaginations run wild.”

Unfortunately, there have been no more updates on the situation. We don’t even have an ETA as to when the Playground mode is going to come back. Of course, the developers are likely working on returning Playground to the game, so we’ll probably get to goof around fairly soon. I’m sure it’s coming back before the end of Season 4. Speaking of which, the new bunch of weekly challenges are out, for those of you that have the Battle Pass. You should get on completing it as soon as possible, due to Season 4 coming to a close soon.
