FFXV PS4 vs PS4 Pro Comparison Screenshots
A handful of screenshots have surfaced on NeoGAF, showcasing the differences between the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro versions of Final Fantasy XV Judgement Disc demo. Long story short – it does look better, and if you’ve got the Pro, you’re going to get a better looking game.
User Tyaren, who posted the comparison pictures, commented that the biggest differences he’d noticed were “anisotropic filtering, higher resolution shadow maps, higher quality ambient occlusion, higher LOD, more prominent lighting and light shafts and better antialiasing solution”. That’s a lot of fancy words, but if you’re not into video game graphics much, they won’t mean anything to you. Here are the shots, so you can compare them for yourself.
The most noticable difference here is the hair – it looks a lot less messy on the Pro. There are also a lot more reflections, and the light seems softer.
You can see the vegetation looking much less jagged and more natural on this one, but the colors are also blander.
This one lets you see how light looks on different surfaces, like cloth, wood, skin. It also shows how much smoother lightning is in the new version.
Finally, a sunset shot that shows how much better the antialiasing is on the Pro. If you were already planning to transition from the regular Playstation to the Pro, this is a nice bonus, but it’s hardly enough to push you. There are rumors that the demo doesn’t have all the advanced options unlocked, so the final version may show a bigger difference. The safest choice is to wait a little longer, since comparisons are going to start showing up as soon as the game launches.
Final Fantasy XV is going to be released on November 29th.
But it probably isn’t enough to convince people to upgrade from the old version to the new one.
