Final Fantasy 15 Moogle Chocobo Carnival Start Date Revealed
Square Enix has revealed the starting date of the Moogle Chocobo Carnival. This seasonal event was first announced near the end of 2016, along with the Holiday Pack DLCs. Only a rough time frame was given – “late January”. Today, we’ve discovered the festival is going to start on January 24th. You’ll need the Carnival Passport from the Holiday Pack in order to enter, but we still don’t know what kind of activities and prizes to expect.
Make sure you’ve downloaded the DLC before the event starts, so you can jump right in when the time comes. You’ll get a free outfit once it starts, but other than that, we’re in the dark. The image also makes it seem like it’s going to take place in Altissia, but that hasn’t been confirmed. If you’re having trouble with the DLC, take a look at our how to download Holiday Pack guide.
The news came via an excited tweet that also nonchalantly shared the fact they’ve shipped 6 million copies of the game. This includes digital sales and physical copies shipped to stores across the globe. The number they’ve boasted on day one was 5 million, so it hasn’t really moved all that far. Keep in mind that not all of the 6 million have been sold – a considerable number of copies are still sitting on store shelves. There’s no denying the game sold extremely well, but the numbers they’re throwing around here aren’t actual sales.
The Moogle Chocobo Carnival in-game event begins on Jan 24!

More good news is #FFXV has shipped & sold digitally over 6 million units! ? pic.twitter.com/KHOboRp9gX
So, the two most adorable creatures of Final Fantasy meet in the same space. Whatever happens at the carnival, just being able to see those giant floats in the game will be worth it. Hopefully we’ll get to see some actual Moogles this time around, and not just those cutesy toys. Moogles are the only thing FFXV is missing.
Will I need to be at least at a certain Chapter? I’m still at Chapter 2 and a little worried I won’t be able to take part in this event if I’m a little behind.
No, as long as you have the holiday dlc you can go. Its accessed from the main menu under “SPECIAL” and it will use a save slot. Some items will transfer back over but I’m not sure what.g
It says “shipped and SOLD”
…actually, it says “shipped” and “sold digitally.” Note that last is a combined phrase. This is because they want to count the digital numbers, but it doesn’t make sense to talk about “digital shipping.” It’s a way of combining apples (sales) and oranges (shipped units) without being clear we’re talking about fruit salad, so people can make the wrong assumption that they actually want them to make. 😛
