Far Cry 5 Shows Off Cult Hunting at Ubisoft E3 Presentation
You can have a dog in Far Cry 5. The dog can bite and fetch assault rifles – a true Good Boy. The game was shown off at Ubisoft’s E3 presentation, and this time we got to see some proper gameplay along with a tone-setting vignette. Two videos have been released with footage from the show, and you can watch them below.
One of the trailers is just crazy fundamentalists singing Amazing Grace in a church, while hugging their guns. It’s a bit lukewarm, but if you’d like to give it a go, be our guest. The other one is actually interesting – it shows an assault on a group of cultists executing nonbelievers in the middle of the road. The focus is on the kinds of help you can hire, which includes the aforementioned dog.
The video includes just some of the buddies you’ll be able to rely on. There’s Grace Armstrong, a sniper you can position wherever you like, who shoots on command and provides cover fire. There’s also Boomer the pooch, who can scout ahead and mark enemies, bring useful items to you and attack. Nick Rye can come in with his plane and rain bullets from above, as well as the occasional missile. Finally, there’s Other People, players you can call on to multiply the carnage.
It looks like absurd, mindless fun, the kind Far Cry was always good at providing. There will no doubt be towers to climb, outposts to liberate and accessories to craft from hillbilly scalps, but none of that were on show.
Far Cry 5 will be released on February 27th 2018, on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. As is customary, you can already preorder it, to reserve a copy from an infinite pool of digital activation keys before they run out.
