Open Door in Tombsward Catacombs Elden Ring Locked by Some Contraption
To open the Elden Ring Tombsward Catacombs door locked by some contraption, you’ll have to find the proper lever. On the bright side, said lever is in the catacombs, so you don’t have to go god-knows-where to find it. The bad news is that you’ll have to fight through the majority of the catacombs to reach the thing; plus, you’ll have to find what amounts to a secret elevator. So, with all of that said, let’s dive straight in.
How to Open Door in Tombsward Catacombs in Elden Ring
To open the door locked “by some contraption” in Elden Ring Tombsward Catacombs, you’ll have to go deeper into the catacombs themselves. This isn’t a hugely complicated task, since it’s mostly just one long corridor. That said, the place is crawling with skeletons, so be ready to tussle. So, from the door, head right, fight through the room, and head down the stairs. Fight through another room, and go down the long corridor to the left. As soon as you turn the corner at the end of that corridor, you’ll see a long plume of fire coming from the statue in the distance.
Wait for the fire to stop, then sprint halfway down and dive into the alcove on the right. Mind the skeleton. When the fire stops again, run to the statue and bonk it to make it go down. Now, you can explore the side corridor, but to open the Elden Ring door in Tombsward Catacombs locked by some contraption, jump onto the platform where the statue was. The column will rise again and transport you to the level above. From here, just follow the path. There are no branching ways to go.
Eventually, you’ll come across a yellow statue of a hooded skeleton, just like the two at the door itself. At the base of this statue is a lever that you need to pull, and the door will open. MINOR SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT. At the bottom, you’ll see a wall of yellow fog. Beyond it, a boss called Cemetery Shade awaits. When defeated, it drops the Lhutel the Headless legendary ashen remains.
Very early in your exploration of Elden Ring world you will find out that you need to prepare your character for different tasks. You'll need to learn how to use Ashes of War, how to two-hand weapons, or use magic spells during the course of your adventures. Many secrets are also waiting for you, such as, a hostile NPC Sellen that doesn't let you see her shop, an invisible man in a bush, or a huge turtle with a bell that lets you duplicate some very important items.
