How to Get Greatshield Soldier Ashes in Elden Ring

To get the Greatshield Soldier Ashes in Elden Ring, you need to go down to Nokron, Eternal City. We explain how to do this in detail in our How to Get to Nokron Eternal City guide. Long story short, you first need to defeat Starscourge Radahn, then go west of Fort Haight, down the floating rocks, and into a cave in the mist. This will take you into Nokron. Once in there, head in the general southeast direction until you get to the Nokron, Eternal City site of grace. The town seems much more complicated that it really is; it’s actually relatively linear.

From the Nokron, Eternal City bonfire, head out the door to the east. Once outside, go southeast. Cross the courtyard and make a beeline towards the corner between the two buildings. In that corner, you’ll see a lonesome tree. The location of the Elden Ring Greatshield Soldier Ashes summon is on a body next to said tree, near two headstones. It’s a fantastic summon, by the way; it calls down five soldiers with giant shields that can take an insane amount of aggro and deal quite a bit of damage themselves. This is especially true after you’ve upgraded them.

Incidentally, another extremely powerful summon you can get down in Nokron is the Mimic Tear. As the name implies, these ashes create a duplicate of you with all of the gear you had at the moment of copying. While it can’t do as much damage as you before upgrading, it has a ton of health and pretty much infinite FP. It’s fantastic. Very early in your exploration of Elden Ring world you will find out that you need to prepare your character for different tasks. You'll need to learn how to use Ashes of War, how to two-hand weapons, or use magic spells during the course of your adventures. Many secrets are also waiting for you, such as, a hostile NPC Sellen that doesn't let you see her shop, an invisible man in a bush, or a huge turtle with a bell that lets you duplicate some very important items.
