Dragon's Dogma 2 Patch Reins Back the Dragonsplague a Little

One of the most devastating things that can happen to you in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of your pawns contracting dragonsplague. There are hints – they start acting aggressive, they don’t obey your orders, and they’re eyes glow red. If you don’t deal with it, eventually they turn into shadowy dragonlike creatures after you rest at an inn and wreak horrible havoc on the settlement. And because you just rested, the game saved, which means there’s nothing you can do to reverse the situation. Well, it seems the developers want to make your life a little easier.

New Dragon’s Dogma 2 Patch Makes Dragonsplague More Manageable

According to the official patch notes, the dragonsplague infection frequency will be reduced with the new update. Also, Pawns will exhibit more noticeable symptoms. For example, the aforementioned glowing eyes will be more noticeable. That ought to help you figure out something’s amiss easier. But that’s not the only thing the update is doing. For one, it will also let you zoom in on your face and the faces of your Pawns in the status screen, shops, etc. Also, treasure chests you’ve opened will stop showing up on the minimap. Then, there are a number of adjustments to Pawn behavior, which should make them less annoying to deal with:

  • Fixing issues where occasionally the player couldn’t high five Pawns.
  • Fixing issues where Pawns wouldn’t start guiding after offering to guide.
  • Making Pawns less likely to fall off cliffs.
  • Reducing the frequency of some Pawn dialogue lines. (THANK GOD)
  • Improving Pawn lines to better match circumstances.
  • Fixing some issues where Pawns stop speaking outside of combat.
  • Fixing some issues where the Main Pawn speaks support Pawn’s dialogue.
  • Making Pawns more likely to aid the Arisen if the Arisen commands them to help while being held by enemies.
  • Reducing the frequency of Pawns offering to be hired by the player while in the field.

There are a few more things the patch addresses, such as random crashes and freezes and the like. You know, like the thing where escort missions suddenly count as failed if you access Character Edit, weird things as such. Take a look at the full patch notes I’ve linked above to see exactly what they are.
