Doom Eternal Release Date & New Multiplayer Mode Revealed
Doom Eternal wasn’t spared the grand E3 treatment this year, which means we now know a heck of a lot more about it that we did before. Well, not really a heck of a lot, but definitly a smidge. We know the game’s exact release date, and we’ve learned of a new multiplayer mode never before seen in the series. Can you guess what it is?
Ha, I bet you guessed battle royale, didn’t you? Well you were WRONG, you sorry, cynical party pooper. It’s actually an asymetrical mode in which one player plays the slayer, while another two play gruesome monsters. The slayer has all his slaying tools at his disposal, and the uglies have all kinds of hellish powers, like the ability to summon lower-rank uglies into the fray. It’s called Battlemode, and you can learn more about it here.
The main trailer, on the other hand, is called a “story trailer”, which I suppose means Doom now has a story? When did that happen? Why didn’t I get the memo? Also, I’m pretty sure I know that guy in the image above from Skyrim. Be that as it may, there’s a fatherly voice in the video, speaking about all matters of Important Stuff I was too bored to pay attention to. But there’s also an angel in at least one frame, and that’s something completely different – not unlike an appearance of a nude organist in a comedy show.
Of course, since id Software basically struck gold with DOOM 2016, this one’s not going to deviate too much from that path. We’ve mentioned a release date, and you’ve been patient enough to get this far, so here it is: Doom Eternal is going to be released on November 22nd this year.
