Destiny 2 Update Buffed Calus' Shield, Raid Now Impossible For Many

Since the release of the Warmind DLC, Destiny 2 has been updated several times. The last update didn’t just do good, however. It also messed up some stuff that was working properly. The biggest issue seems to be with the energy shields – many of them were beefed up, making enemies that much harder to defeat. This includes Calus, the raid boss from the Leviathan.

Destiny 2 Update Buffed Calus’ Shield, Raid Now Impossible For Many

Destiny 2 shields bug

We first noticed the issue yesterday, while completing the Psionic Potential heroic adventure, during the Nascent Dawn 2/5 quest. One of the bosses in the adventure, a Psion Flayer, had way too much shield, and our energy weapons took a while to whittle it down. It was unpleasant, sure, but not a big problem.

After a while, we started hearing reports of something much more sinister. Apparently, the update also affected Calus’ shield in the Leviathan raid. Only it didn’t make it stronger – it made it indestructible. We’ve seen more than a few reports of people going through the entire raid, only to be wiped at the very end, when Calus’ shield refused to go down, no matter how much heavy ammo and super uses they laid on it.

Thankfully, the team at Bungie is aware of the issue and they’re investigating it. The reassuring message came via Cozmo23, Destiny’s community manager, when he appeared in a Reddit thread dedicated to the problem. While we’re waiting on a fix, be sure to avoid the raid like the plague, or you’ll risk wasting hours of your precious time with little to show for it. As for the other shields, well… just be prepared to spend a lot more ammo doing the same work you did with half a magazine before the update. Hopefully the hotfix arrives soon.
