Destiny 2 Sunshot Exotic Handcannon Location
Sunshot is an exotic handcannon in Destiny 2. It’s a great gun to have, but requires a steady hand. Enemies you kill with it will explode, dealing damage to anyone nearby. In this guide, we’re going to show you Destiny 2 Sunshot exotic handcannon location, what it looks like and its stats.
Where to find Sunshot in Destiny 2
You can obtain Sunshot as a quest reward during the Red War story campaign. There’s a mission on Io, called Sacrilege. Once you’ve finished it, the game will tell you to talk to Asher Mir, the warlock vendor at The Rupture. When you speak to him, he’ll offer you a three exotics – one of them is the Sunshot. If you want more info on the other two, check out our Destiny 2 Graviton Lance, Riskrunner, Sunshot Exotic Weapons guide.
Sunshot weapon perks
Sunshot comes with five perk slots. Here’s what they are:
- Sunburn (intrinsic) – This weapon fires explosive rounds and highlights targets that take damage from Sunshot.
- Chambered Compensator (barrel) – Stable barrel attachment. Increases stability, decreases handling and recoil.
- Accurized Rounds (magazine) – Increases range.
- Sun Blast (trait) – Targets killed with Sunshot explode in Solar energy.
- Textured Grip (grip) – Increases handling speed, decreases stability.

I did the red war story and still cant get the sunshot so what do I do to get it
How do you get the sunshot now that you don’t get it from the quest now that the game have become free to play
I didn’t do a quest but just found it in an engram
its an 2017 guide, those were the 3 beta exotics if im not mistaken, i dont think this works now
Maybe because it’s not 2017 anymore. Smh
This guide is wrong. I did the sacrelige mission and I spoke Asher Mir and he didn’t give me the option to choose between 3 exotics although I already had the riskrunner I wanted the sun shot really bad and your guide said to do the mission and you will get to choose it but it was very very wrong
how to get it in shodowkeep.
You can get it still keep checking Xur or hope for luck on drops
So, how do you get sunshot if you’ve already completed the campaign?
You said youd show us where to find the gun when the game launches but the game has been launched for days now and i still dont see where to find it
Sorry about that, we’ve written another guide for it – because you can get it at the same place as two other exotics, so we lumped them together. We must’ve forgotten to update this one, but it’s fixed now. Thanks for pointing it out.
