Destiny 2 Masterwork Weapons Coming in December Update

Masterwork weapons are probably the most exciting change. They’re a variation of legendary gear which tracks your kills, drops orbs of light on multi-kills and has an additional perk that can be rerolled. They will drop from the same sources regular legendaries do, but only after you attain power level 250. Dismantling them will yield a new material that can be used to upgrade a normal legendary into a masterwork. Your best chance of getting one will be playing the raid and Trials of the Nine.

Armor ornaments are making a comeback – you’ll be able to unlock them by completing objectives, and they won’t affect your shaders. The armor sets getting them include outfits from the Vanguard, Crucible, Iron Banner, Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, New Monarchy, Trials of the Nine and Eater of Worlds raid. While we’re on the subject, you’ll be able to purchase faction armor from vendors using legendary shards and tokens. These will rotate on a weekly basis, and all five slots will be represented.

Xur is also going to shake things up a bit. He’s going to start selling special Fated Engrams, which are guaranteed to decrypt into an exotic you don’t already own. This is going to be a great way to fill up your exotic collection, without losing hair over Xur’s inventory each week. He’ll also offer Three of Coins, which will increase your exotic drop chance for four hours.

The gunsmith will start outright selling legendary weapon mods, on a daily rotation. Master Rahool is going to offer legendary engrams in exchange for legendary shards. Finally, expect an overall increase in drop rates for tokens of all kinds. All in all, it seems like the grind will become more bearable.
