Destiny 2 release date, PC features and requirements, and beta info

As you are already aware, Destiny 2 is this year coming to PC, apart from the consoles. This is very exciting news, but also means a whole different game, as people will be able to use mouse and keyboard in the game and many other PC goodies. The release date has finally been confirmed – it will be September 8, just as leaked before.

As Eric Hinsberg, Activision CEO says: “Along with our incredibly talented partners at Bungie, we are focusing on making Destiny 2 even better, with state of the art first person action, an awesome new story, great characters, and thoughtful innovations that make the game more accessible to all different kinds of players. We’re also bringing Destiny 2 to the PC platform for the first time.”

It has been confirmed that Vicarious Visions are working on the PC version. It makes sense to put the team who were involved in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to an FPS game, but this hopefully will not affect a certain “parity” of play across the platforms.

Destiny 2 PC features:

  • 4k Resolution Support (3820×2160)
  • Uncapped framerate
  • Full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping
  • Text chat
  • Adjustable Field of View
  • Detailed PC settings screen
  • 21:9 monitor support

Destiny 2 system requirements are still not made public, but the game did run on some serious hardware at the press event:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti (Courtesy of Nvidia)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2Ghz (Courtesy of Intel)
  • 16GB Ram/500GB SSD/Windows 10
The final minimal specs will be much lower, that is for sure, it is just a question of how much.

For some a big surprise, it was announced that Destiny 2 on PC will be distributed through Blizzard’s Battle.net. Open beta is coming this summer as well, with pre-orders getting it first.
