Destiny 2 Beta Increasing Power Ammo Drops & Grenade Power
The Destiny 2 Beta has its fair share of problems, including a pretty rocky start. That’s not much of a surprise, given that it’s a beta. Guardians haven’t held off on criticism, though, and Bungie is listening. To answer some of the more common complaints, they’ve decided to increase power ammo drops and grenade power in PvE, as well as boss vitality and other fine-tunes.
One of the major complaints about the Destiny 2 beta was the effectiveness of weapons, especially in PvE. The boss can soak up way too many bullets. Grenade effectiveness is just slightly above that of lobbing balled-up tissue paper at enemies. The game is pretty stingy with power ammo drops. Well, Bungie has been listening, and they’re preparing to fix these issues.
As reported in the latest Bungie Weekly Update, Destiny 2 Beta design lead Rob Engeln had some reassuring words for participating Guardians:
The nature of a Beta of this scale requires that it’s based off a build of the game that is now months old. So, in many cases, your feedback is helping us validate changes that were previously made based on internal feedback and playtesting.
He then explained what they’ll do to combat the issues:
For example, we too felt that ammo (especially power ammo) was too scarce in PvE. In addition to retuning the drop rates, we built a system that guarantees power ammo drops for you and your Fireteam from certain enemies, giving power weapons a more reliable and predictable role in your arsenal. Other areas where we’ve made significant tuning changes include grenade effectiveness in PvE, Boss vitality, and weapon damage against non-player combatants.
So, there you have it, Guardians. Bungie is working on fine-tuning the game with your help, and one assumes they’ll iron out the kinks soon enough. For more info about the beta, check out our list of Destiny 2 articles, including the one on Destiny 2 Beta Errors and Problems.
