Ringed City Halflight, Spear of the Church Boss in Dark Souls 3

Halflight, Spear of the Church is one of the bosses you can fight in Dark Souls 3 Ringed City DLC. Depending on your luck, this could be a fairly easy or really difficult encounter. In this guide, we’ll show you how to defeat Halflight, Spear of the Church boss in Ringed City and some tips on how to win more easily.

How to beat Halflight, Spear of the Church Boss

You’ll fight this boss in the Church of Filianore. You can reach it through Ringed Inner Wall bonfire shortcut. Before you enter, a voice will warn you not to enter. It’s safe to assume that won’t be enough to stop you, so head on inside and listen to what Judicator Argo has to say.

One thing that’s important to note beforehand is that this boss fight is different depending on whether you’re playing online or offline. If you’re playing offline, you’ll fight Halflight normally, as an NPC. If you’re online, Judicator Argo will summon a player character that’s in the Spears of The Church Covenant. Now, some players might just stand there and take damage if they feel merciful. Otherwise, this battle can turn into quite the pickle very quickly. We’ll assume that you’re playing offline for this guide.

During the fight with the Spear of the Church, healers in white robes will spawn. One of them will appear before the Spear of the Church even arrives, while the other spawns when you get Halflight to about half health. Try to get rid of the first healer before the main boss appears, but it’s okay if you don’t. Stand behind their spawn point and start wailing on them as soon as you can.

If Halflight does appear before you kill the healer, you can simply use the many columns to split them up. Don’t focus on the boss before you kill the healer. They’re very aggressive, which means they’ll be open to your attacks very often after you dodge. Make sure never to let them heal, so as not to prolong the fight. The same strategy applies when the second healer shows up.

As for Halflight, she has a few attacks you need to watch out for. First off, when you see glowing orbs around her, get ready to dodge. Those orbs are projectiles that aren’t hard to evade, but you have to be on your guard. Same goes for when Halflight summons a bunch of electric, glowing spears from the ground. Again, it’s not difficult to dodge them. When she changes her stance to holding her sword in the sheath, don’t attack. She can perform a quick combo of about five strikes which can end you very quickly. Only resume attacking when Halflight changes stances again. Other than that, the fight is fairly straightforward.
