Dark Souls 3 Darkeater Midir Secret Boss - Ringed City Dragon
Darkeater Midir is a boss in Dark Souls 3 Ringed City. He’s an optional boss, and you can beat the DLC without facing off against him. The rewards for beating him are quite nice, but this is one of the hardest boss fights in the game. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to beat Dark Souls 3 Darkeater Midir secret boss, where to find the Ringed City dragon.
Where to find Darkeater Midir
You’ll first meet the Ringed City dragon on the stone bridge near the Ringed City Streets bonfire. Spawn at the bonfire and go through the gate, then turn right once you’re in the open. As you start crossing the bridge, he’ll fly in and breathe fire along your path. Wait for him to come back, then run along as soon as the fire dies down. Make sure to use the rock after the bridge as cover during the second wave. Use some fire resistant armor and a shield, as well. Near the end, you can jump off a ledge to the left.
Once inside, climb the stairs. When you get to the top, you’ll find another bonfire. Once you leave, you’ll have to fight Midir. You’ll find him in his arena afterwards. To get there, start at the Ringed Inner Wall Bonfire. Ride the elevator and jump off about halfway down. Hit the empty-handed statue on your right, and follow the corridor. Go down the ladder and jump into the hole behind the altar.
How to beat Darkeater Midir
When you reach him for the first time, hide behind the rock on the left. After he stops breathing fire, run up to him and attack his right hand and keep near the cliff. When he moves, run to the outcrop where he keeps his left hand and stay there. After the flames die down, go back to the left hand and slash away. When he gets down to 30% health, he’ll go crazy. Get behind the rock you used earlier until he calms down, then finish him off.
The second encounter is the harder of the two. If you’re playing a sorcerer, you can cheese him using Pestilent Mercury, a sorcery sold by Orbeck of Vinheim. Simply get under him, cast it, then run circles around him and try to dodge his attacks. Several castings later, he’ll be down for the count.
If you’re not one for magic, you should use a lightning-infused weapon (or Lightning Arrow miracle) and aim for the head. Don’t try to push it – just focus on staying alive until you have an opportunity to land two or three hits. The best way to bait him is to run under him when he starts a melee combo, and go past his tail. He should turn around towards you – approach him while he’s turning, slap him a couple of times, and get under him as soon as he starts another combo.
