Cyberpunk 2077 Third Person

Third person perspective in games usually means an over the shoulder camera. It gives you a better view of your surroundings, and allows you to peek around corners effortlessly. Cyberpunk 2077 comes with a first person view by default, and lots of folks are wondering how to change that, whether it’s possible, and if there’s a third person mod they can use. Our Cyberpunk 2077 third person guide will answer all those questions, so scroll down if you’re interested.

Cyberpunk 3rd person view

Sadly, the game doesn’t allow a third person camera. The default first person view is the only one you can use. PC users might have luck in a couple of weeks – a mod that allows you to switch to third person view may appear shortly, but there are no guarantees. Console players are definitely stuck in first person mode, unless the developers decided to add another camera in an update.

The only time you can use a 3rd person view in Cyberpunk 2077 is while driving. Cars and motorcycles will default to the first person camera, but you can change the view by pressing a single button.

How to switch to third person camera?

If you’re using a mouse and keyboard to move around, press Q while in the vehicle and the view will switch. If you’re playing on a gamepad, press right on the D-Pad instead. It’s as simple as that.

Most people prefer driving from a third person perspective, so it’s kind of unclear why the default for vehicles is the same as playing on foot. Changing it is quick, but you will have to do it every time you enter a vehicle, which is a bit bothersome. Hopefully, the devs will add an option to keep the vehicle view in third person by default.

Yet another FP lazy game.. I refuse to waste my money on a first person game unless maybe a shooter with multiplayer. I don’t know what is immersive about only being to see what is in front of you. It’s just lazy and boring. Why waste time on character design when you only see them sometime. Reminds me of Halo ODST and Destiny. What is the point of cool armor when you can’t see it. Oh so the AI can see how cool I look. I get it now. Lol

I bought Cyberpunk 2077 for Playstation, spent 2 hours installing it, 10 minutes playing it and 2 minutes listing it for sale on eBay. I thought this could be ‘the’ game to make me like and appreciate first person perspective but sadly, it is not. They say that FPP is more immersive, but despite putting the camera where your characters eyes would be it’s actually a very unnatural way of looking at the world. To explain, cup your hands around your eyes and what you can see in front of you is basically your in-game field of vision. Now move your eyes and look around. You can’t. To see anything around you you must move your entire head. You can’t see above you without tilting your head up and you can’t see your feet without tilting it down. To replicate this in a game means the camera is constantly and rapidly swerving up, down, left and right, which many people can find quite nauseating, unpleasant and uncomfortable. I genuinely believe it should be treated as an accessibility issue than simply a matter of dislike, with the option to switch to third person view if you prefer. To insist on FPP is to alienate a huge chunk of your potential market for a reason that is no fault of their own.

This makes no sense, why would you be able to look up/down without moving your head, unless you have eyes that bulge out of your face like a chameleon that’s impossible and you have eyes irl that can look around, while slightly tilting in game head instead of moving your head to extremes, why should the game do this for you when real life doesn’t even allow for such a thing as seeing up or down clearly with out the need to tilt a head slightly.

I understand you dont play much FPS but this is the same for TPS as well, you have eyes in real life, use them.
