Turn Off Crossplay on Xbox & PC MW2
If you’re struggling and unable to turn off crossplay in MW2 on Xbox and PC, don’t worry, you’re not the only one. The option to disable crossplay in Modern Warfare 2 on PC and Xbox is not working as it should. In fact, it kinda-sorta isn’t there at all at the moment, and that seems to be by design. So, is there anything else you can do? Well, let’s find out.
How to Turn Off Crossplay on Xbox in MW2
To turn off or disable the MW2 crossplay on Xbox (and on PC, actually), you normally have to go to to the Multiplayer section of the Modern Warfare 2 menu. Next, go into the settings (top right corner) and find the Account & Networks tab. Find the Crossplay option and turn it off. Simple, right? Well, unfortunately, the developers have removed the option on Xbox at the moment. I don’t know why, but it is what it is.
Fortunately, there’s a workaround, as detailed by TheGuardianFox on Reddit. You just have to mess wiht your consoles settings. Go into Xbox Settings, then Account, then Privacy and Online Safety. From there, proceed to Xbox Privacy > View Details and Customize > Communication and Multiplayer. Block the “You can join cross-network play” option, and you should be good to go.
MW2 Disable Crossplay on PC
If you want to disable or turn off crossplay in MW2 on PC, you’d normally have to go through the same steps you’d use for Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox. Just go into the Multiplayer menu, and instead of jumping into the match, click the cog in the top right corner. Navigate your way to Account & Networks, locate Crossplay, and turn it off. At least, that’s how things should be. Sadly, just as with Xbox, the developers have yanked this option away from PC players. To add insult to injury, you people don’t even have the option to turn off crossplay via console settings; the Xbox crowd at least have that. Unless you know of another workaround, I’m afraid you’re stuck with crossplay at the moment.
