Modern Warfare 2 Slide Cancel Guide (2022)
Knowing how to slide cancel in Modern Warfare 2 is essential if you want to stand any chance at higher levels of multiplayer. The Slide Cancel move has been a very useful manoeuvre in numerous Call of Duty games. And things are no different in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. However, is there slide cancelling in COD MW2? If that’s what you’ve been wondering, you’ve come to the right place. In our guide, we explain everything you need to know about MW2 cancelling on PC and console.
How to Slide Cancel in Modern Warfare 2
Aside from bunny hopping, slide cancelling has been one of the most iconic advanced movement manoeuvres in FPS games. If done properly and consistently, it lets players move significantly faster. This is extremely useful in a lot of situations. It allows you to rotate quickly, evade enemy fire, rapidly engage and disengage, and simply move faster from one point to another. Some find it to be an annoying exploit, while others see it as an indication of a player’s skill.
No matter what you think about it, slide cancelling was a part of COD games for so long now, that it is practically essential to know how to perform it. So, how does the Modern Warfare 2 slide cancel technique work? Well, the wild version of slide cancelling we’ve seen in Modern Warfare 2019 and Warzone is gone. You’ll not be able to go nuts with the Modern Warfare 2 slide cancel. However, that doesn’t mean that the technique is not present in the game. Some pro players, like Shottzy, have already figured it out. Here’s how to cancel in Modern Warfare 2:
- Pull out your secondary (pistol).
- Slide.
- Swap your weapon while sliding.
- Aim Down Sights.
- Jump.
In order for this to work, you’ll have to have your “Weapon Mount Activation” controller setting set to “ADS”. Furthermore, the “Automatic Grounded Mantle” and “Grounded Mantle” in the “Movement Behaviour” settings section need to be set to “off”. Finally, the “Automatic Airborne Mantle” also needs to be turned off. While not as broken as the one in Warzone, this Modern Warfare 2 slide cancel technique is still quite useful. Still, it remains to be seen if Infinity Ward will eventually patch it out of the game.
This is vastly different to a different article I saw. It involved not mattering what weapon you had out, turning off the same settings you posted then sprinting, slide, then double tap ADS, then pressing A? Is there different ways to do it and if so which way is ‘better’?
